If you’re visiting Myrtle Beach by yourself or with just a significant other, it’s not a big deal to visit some of the area’s more expensive attractions. But if you’ve got a family, it doesn’t take long before those visits start to add up.
So, here are some family-friendly places that will fit nicely within a family budget.
Public Parks
Parks are always a hit with the kids.
Public parks are a great affordable (and often free!) way to entertain the family. Check out this list that shares the free parks in North Myrtle Beach AND in Myrtle Beach.
Waccatee Zoo
The Waccatte Zoo, a privately owned establishment, is over 500 acres big and houses thousands of animals. Admission is very reasonable: Admission for children ages 1-12 is $4 (babies are free!), and for those 13 and older, the price is $9. That’s a darn good deal, and to make it even sweeter, look for a coupon in the Monster Coupon book.
Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk
If you need a break from the sand, a boardwalk is a great place to stroll.
Opened in 2010, this is a relatively new addition to the Myrtle Beach scene, and it costs nothing. The 1.2 miles of boardwalk are a great place to walk and push strollers while enjoying ocean views and classic beachfront atmosphere. Mini Golf (on off hours)
Myrtle Beach has some awesome mini golf courses, but they to tend to be a little pricey. However, if you’re willing to golf at non-peak hours, there are deals to be had. Many courses offer a discount or a coupon good only during the morning or middle of the day. Or if there’s a course you really love, you can get a bargain on an all-day pass and play to your heart’s content.

Broadway at the Beach
Dipping your toes into fountain at Broadway at the Beach feels great on a hot day!
You can spend a pretty penny at this lake-front shopping center, but it’s also possible for a family with kids to have an enjoyable time on a dime. For instance, there’s a free playground and a fountain that’s fun to dip your feet in on hot days. And the Pavilion park is a fun way to get in a few amusement park rides without having to buy an expensive pass. Because the rides all operate on tickets, you can go a la carte, a great option for small children.

The Beach
I may be be stating the obvious here, but if you’ve already rented a condo at the beach, the sun, sand, and waves aren’t going to cost you anything extra. So, if you’re looking for ways to enjoy your vacation without spending lots of money, take advantage of the beach! Build sand castles, take walks (evening and early morning are perfect for that.), boogie board, or just lay out and enjoy the sunshine.
